I'm looking to write a script that detects how simple the lines are in an image. Clean straight lines and simple curves would score higher, while complex messy curves would score lower. I'm not looking to actually extract the shapes and lines in the image, just get an idea of their complexity.

An example would be comparing satellite images of a farm and a forest - the farm rectangles of various colours and straightish lines of roads and fences, perfectly round silos and irrigation rings. The forest has much less that can be detected.
