I'm working on a project that will show text to users on a fixed piece of hardware: an iMac with a circa 2009 iSight.
I'm using Java and what I'd really like to do is give a hands-free experience to the user by autodetecting their gaze as they read each line. I'm hoping to use big text to exaggerate the experience, so head movements are to be expected (the user's will be wearing an EEG device with an accelerometer, but I don't think it would be sensitive enough to reliably pick up the movements).
What I'd like to know is if people here feel that the hardware is good enough to even think about doing an auto prompt reader based on the gaze detection (to pick out the reader's pace). And ideally, has anyone done this and has code to share?
