Detecting Yeast Cells

Hello everyone

I need to detect yeast cells like image attached. Could you tell me what the best way to detect this, please? It's shape like circles or ellipsis.

an explanation about what's your 'grid' seen here, would be helpful, too.

are all 'dots' seen here are actually yeast cells ?

Thanks for your answer and sorry about late... The grid is not important... I need to detect only circles/ellipsis shapes I will post another image to show exactly what I need Regards

It seems simple binary inverted threshold with medium threshold value, and find contours gives the result some thing like below.

Thanks for your answer The problem I see using this is: When the cells are aglomerated the alghoritm show me only ONE body And I need to detect separately Look at the new picture I posted if you can Thanks again for your help

Hello everyone

As you can see at the following picture I need to detect only shaped with blue and red squares The blue square for dead cells and red for alive cells The grid and the green squares are not important

Can anyone help me about this?
