Like mentioned by @antonio, almost all USB webcams are supported by the drivers of OpenCV to capture data, expecially the basic ones. So you have a range of camera possibilities. Looking for something in particular or not? Else I could suggest using the basic model of logitech which works perfectly over here and is a very cheap webcam for good quality for basic stuff. If you need high resolution images or high rate capturing, then tell me.

The problem is that OpenCV (and QuickTime or Vlc) works well only with the onboard webcam. I have bought many usb video capture devices for Mac. These device work only with theirs software.
