How to associate a color value to a number?

I'm creating a module that would associate the average color value to a value, which is ranged from white to blue (based from a thermal picture). Now I need to a way to do this in code, and I definitely need help in this regard, since I have no clue as to how do I code this in the first place.

Any help would be appreciated.

Alright, I'm really sorry for this.

(Also, can you go back to the Dominant color thread, it seems that the reshape didn't work and it still displayed all 8 colors. Not to mention that I'm stuck as to how do I exclude black from the array.)
