I am planning to buy ASUS Tinker Board to build a real-time multiple face detection (Max 3 faces) and object recognition system. Will the recognition be faster (around 20-25 FPS) maybe? Or is there any better SBC at an affordable price?

It seems that the TinkerBoard is more powerful as a Raspberry Pi 3 (4 [email protected] vs 4 [email protected]). You can find lots of videos about real time face detection on Raspberry Pis, so it will probably work on the TinkerBoard too.

For object recognition, it depends on the objects to recognize and the complexity of the algorithm. Simple algorithms will work on the board. If you want to use deep learning, you can add a Movidius AI stick to make it work real time.

I never worked with the TinkerBoard, but I use the Odroid SBCs (C2 and XU4). They are affordable, powerful, with good support.

Can you try out on a similar or stronger machine and measure times?

I haven't brought the board yet. I just want some suggestions before buying it.
