Learning OpenCV 3 -- Computer Vision In C++ With The OpenCV Library is a good book. I took a quick peek at the beginning, and it refers to OpenCV "3.x". Anyway, the book teaches you the basics, and then you hang around here and watch people posing interesting questions. You learn fast, if you're willing to put in the work. Right now, for instance, I am trying to learn Python; this is a good place to learn Python.
