I would recommend something else. Adrian Rosebrock is a PhD in this field and is dedicated to it. I don't know or work for the guy but i know his website and his booklets will get you to speed in no time. He also replies to all emails almost 100%. I should also mention that he is focused in python. The only book i needed after his lessons were the Opencv Documentation.

SATYA MALLICK is also another PHD that has good C++/Python toturials/books.
Have you tried Opencv tutorials? They are pretty simple to follow.
