Can OpenCV be used to perform actions based on conditions [closed]

asked 2018-08-29 15:06:17 -0600

Hi,

I am a Computer Engineering student and I would like to use OpenCV for one of my projects. I am trying to assess whether OpenCV will meet my needs for said specific project.

So far I am impressed with its ability to do facial recognition as well as object detection.

I hope this doesn't come across as too simplistic a question, but here goes.

Let us suppose that I have a camera. When object A or person A is detected by the camera, is there any way I can trigger some sort of programmed routine for that specific object or person?

Thanks in advance for all help

Have you not Googled for "OpenCV facial recognition"? At least one of the links shows how to measure the eyes, nose, and mouth; the landmarks on the facial landscape.

well, the short answer is: YES.

but the question would be: are YOU able to do this ? it's only a matter of programming skill here.

but the largest problem is: without learning about computer-vision, all assumptions about what is possible/feasible are zilch.

Lets keep it open for responses, because your answer is actually correct, just as it should be :D We cannot all be experts right?

nope, it's not an answer. it's only highlighting, that the op is far too vague, to be answered here.

then lets close it again :D

it's also entirely useless as a reference for others, so i'll take the liberty to delete it.
