Detect any object from a camera to avoid colision

Hi guys, I'm really new in OpenCV, and I started to do a project in my uni that is a Drone equipped with a gopro camera that navigates from a point A to a point B, for example, and in this path, the drone face some obstacles like a bird or other drone and the drone needs to dodge obstacles. Is that possible? I just need to know if i can recognize any object and change my path to dodge it. Thanks guys!

Is that possible? I just need to know if i can recognize any ~~object~~ object(witch is unknown) and change my path to dodge it. Thanks guys!
