Are units of square and marker side length significant in calibrate_camera_charuco

I see that in the usage string for calibrate_camera_charuco, the units of the sl (square side length) and ml (marker side length) parameters were changed from "pixels" to "meters" in May 2016. Do the units of these parameters really matter or just the ratio of the values? (e.g. would -sl=300 and -ml=240 give the same results as -sl=0.2375 and -ml=0.19?)
