Python-OpenCV installation - CMake error missing vtkRenderingOpenGL [16.04]

I'm trying to install Python-OpenCV with the Python3 bindings on my LTS system following the 16.04 guide from pyimagesearch.

When I try to run CMake:

cmake -D CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=RELEASE -D CMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr/local -D INSTALL_PYTHON_EXAMPLES=ON -D INSTALL_C_EXAMPLES=OFF -D OPENCV_EXTRA_MODULES_PATH=~/opencv_contrib-3.1.0/modules -D PYTHON_EXECUTABLE=~/.virtualenvs/cv/bin/python -D BUILD_EXAMPLES=ON ..

I get the following error:

I've followed the guide completely up until this point so I'm not sure what is wrong.

I've looked around to try and fix the missing package vtkRenderingOpenGL and followed a post from stackoverflow. I'm sure that I've installed this in the past and so I get:

sudo apt -y install freeglut3-dev
