PvCaptureWaitForFrameDone always returns timeout - what's going on?

I'm using PvAPI.h and a prosilica camera. Using windows 8.

It is finding the camera without problem.

But PvCaptureWaitForFrameDone unfortunately always returns timeout (ePvErrTimeout). Anyone have anything similar? Ideas? Maybe a hint on where to start looking? It seems not many people had this problem before. It works without issue on a mac device but on this windows device it is not working.
