If I find a bug now, which target version should I specify?

If I find a bug in the master branch, do I specify the target version as 3.0 beta or 3.0? What is the general policy about this (couldn't find any guidelines)?

the version, you found the bug in. when in doubt, try the most generic (3.0 or 2.4)
