I see people adding tags in many different ways. Is there a proper one? For example I want to ask a question regarding motion detection. The tags that I found are the following:

motion × 25
motion-detection × 8
motion_detection × 4
#motion-detection × 3

Many questions tagged with 'motion' have additional tag 'detection'.

What would be the best way of tagging my question? Separate words? One word (motiondetection)? With or without a separator? Does # have any influence on tagging?

+1 - I think we need a solution for that... And for growing number of spams and ad messages.

This should be added to the FAQ. We had a discussion about that some time ago, but I can't find it now... The idea was not to use hastag for tag, but nothing was really decide for multiple words. I hope your question will lead to an improvement of the FAQ!
