I was wondering if opencv works (or will work) on the new MacBook Pros (2020)? These new laptops have their own apple chips (not intel based). I am also curious if the OAK( Opencv AI Kit) coming on 2021 will be also compatible?

the Apple M1 chip is based on ARM. OpenCV builds fine for ARM. The Raspberry Pi is an ARM processor and many people use OpenCV on their RPIs. OpenCV even has optimized code for ARM. I'm sure Apple will also support OpenCL on their new system, so OpenCV will be able to use the integrated GPU as well.
there may have to be some adaptation to the operating system, build toolchain, and new CPU for it to "just work" but it's very likely going to work.

Absolutely. chip M1 runs on many languages. But need to install third party on MAC such as linux, etc. New version is OAK(Opencv AI Kit).
