Use known contour/mask to register coordinates of Social Security card

asked 2017-12-27 02:45:05 -0500

Hi OpenCV folks!

I'm trying to detect the presence of social security cards and extract the sub-region with name and SSN from flatbed-scans.

Social Security cards have such a fixed, high-contrast appearance that I feel like I should be able to use a known mask to locate the card in the image and register a local coordinate system around it (see image below).

Could anyone point me at the right helper-functions and/or approach to actually do this, however? I'm an OpenCV newbie.

Thanks!
