Slot racing

asked 2017-10-25 03:08:06 -0600

Hello,

I will be doing project for my studies, which will be related with slot racing. I am going to use raspberry pi to control cars, and I want to adapt some algorithms from AI to make them race themselves. But the main problem is to detect in which place of the track the car is. Using sensors can be problematic, because the track is 14 meters long, so I would have to use a lot of sensors. I was thinking about using camera and OpenCV. But to be honest, I've never used it. So I don't know if it will be possible to process image so fast to give raspberry time for reaction? And it will be difficult to achieve this? Because I don't want to spend hundreds of hours just for learning OpenCV to do this.

With regards,

Hi, it exist hundred solution using vision or not, to do a autonom car. Moreover it's a google buzzword problem. You should first do a list of all solution and sort them.

About vision solution and openCV, you have several real time algorithm (raspberry tested) which combined could you bring a global solution.
