Is the STAR detector the implementation of CenSurE?

Is the STAR feature detector the implementation of the CenSurE Feature detector (download), published by Agrawal, Konolige and Blas?

All I found was this homepage that indicates my believe, but why is it called STAR? The source code is completely undocumented and the official reference only mentions the name Konolige but not the paper.

Actually I guess this is indeed an implementation of the paper you are citing right there. However, looking at this old willowgarage discussion I get the idea that the paper was used as a basis and some specific adaptations were made by openCV developers. Actually this is something worth writing a bug report for! Please do so, this way the documentation will get adapted and paper will be referenced. More info on issue and the how to contribute page.

Thanks for that, however it would be nice if you got the time to create a pull request. This will surely help you to get this adapted even faster! Look for more info on the how to contribute page.
