Hi,

We intend to use OpenCV and some of its libraries with a possible Commercial Product Development intention. This involves using some of the OpenCV ‘s face detection implementation based on haar features, boosted trees and idea of cascade.

From the various threads in OpenCV we learn that using such implementations could possibly lead us to potential Patent infringement issues as the same is a Viola-Jones patent .

Our question is; Does OpenCV provide us with a commercial license for some price to use such patented implementations for commercial products (where OpenCV takes care of the Patents and associated royalties )

OR

OpenCV simply bears a general BSD license which could be used for commercial products with limitations (where the user is responsible for dealing with such Patent holders and their associated royalties ).

Kindly clarify or share a suitable link which furnishes such information.

Request and appreciate a response in this regard.

Thanks in Advance,

Prashanth
