How can I license SURF

It appears SURF is patented and needs to be licensed for commercial applications.

Does anyone know where/how I can obtain such a license and what it costs?

what's the reason to use SURF instead of ORB ?

for the simple fact that surf/sift outperforms ORB when it comes to the robustness of matching.

If you go that link at ETH mentioned above, they mention kooaba. On their page I found this http://www.kooaba.com/en/plans_and_pricing/ip_licensing

Seems you can ask for license right there.
