Hello

I have a project in which I have to calculate how many bottles left in the fridge. Please refer the image C:\fakepath\image3.jpg . This is the image in which we will assume that fridge is full. I will get images in 10minutes of an interval in which I have to calculate how much percentage is empty.

Will the Images be just like the one provided in your link? Isn't it possible for you to position the camera above the bottles?

Yes, all the images will be same as above the link. Position the camera above bottle rack is impossible.

hmm. I'm just asking, because even for a human its not that easy to locate every Bottle inside there. But probably if the camera could be lifted a little bit more, you can see every Bottle Cap. Then you could try sth. to detect them (I think a object Recognition wouldn't work for counting) . And I think a Seperation of the Image into different brands would be usefull (e.g. a Image stripe for 7Up one for Pepsi Zero etc.) And then start the counting.

Green and grey bottles cap in the back are not even noticeable in this image, I don't see any chance to count them with images like this one. You could only make a guess. Even if you lift the camera (and you can't lift too much there) I'm quite sure you'll still be having problems with proper illumination because the back will always be dark, thus cap contours will not be clear.

I think the first critical issue here is to find proper acquisition set up, then you can think of a strategy to identify caps taking perspective distortion into account.

You can try to substract the "current" image and the "10 minutes ago" image and then analyze the difference. Also the perspective of the view is not good as the front bottles have the larger sizes than the background bottles, so you should take this into account.
