Thanks for the quick answer!
I tried the following codecs: DIVX, XVID, MJPG, X264, WMV1, WMV2, with no result.
Adding a "print frame.shape" shows that each frame is a 640x480x3 array, so the size should not be the problem. Anyway I tried resizing the frame, as suggested, again with no different result.
(Probably irrelevant, but I have tried everything also in gray scale with the same result)
I have no idea what may be going on..... I will keep trying...
Thank you very much

Thanks for [SOLVED]
Apparently I made some mistake in the quick answer!installation or something. This problem was solved by using this script to (re-)install OpenCV:
https://github.com/jayrambhia/Install-OpenCV
I tried guess I had some dependencies missing or something (even though I got no errors when installing).
Anyway, thank you very much for the following codecs: DIVX, XVID, MJPG, X264, WMV1, WMV2, with no result.help!
