Hi, I had the same problem I tried with the openni but I didn't understand that kind of code is to crazy in my point of view.
The alternative that I have found, is openkinect, there are drivers and a library. With this code you can get the both images:
#include "libfreenect.hpp"
#include <iostream>
#include <vector>
#include <cmath>
#include <pthread.h>
#include <cv.h>

pthread_mutex_init( &m_mutex, NULL );
}

pthread_mutex_lock( &m_mutex );
}

}

};
