We are working on a project to use OpenCV on 360 cameras for human detection/traffic counter project in a retail environment. A typical space of 7,000 sqft. We need full coverage but want to limit the number of cameras (hence why we're looking at 360 cameras) and also want to have a high enough resolution for human identification through facial recognition or some other means. Does anyone have suggestions on what cameras would be good for this use case? Do 360 cameras provide the same results as a standard camera for traffic counting?

In other words, do fisheye lenses distort the accuracy of human detection?

Thanks in advance!!!

Well, unless customers are walking on the roof in the store, you'll be probably okay with 180° cameras (fisheye lens) oriented towards the ground.
