My graduation project is about detecting outdoor far obstacles using cameras. Since long distance (more than 2 Kms away) I have the idea to use a one camera mounted in a UAV (only from vertical movements), so I can capture many photos of the scene and after I would use them to make 3D reconstruction using SfM and MVS. So I could have a sort of digital surface modulation but only from oblique aerial images using vertical movements of a UAV. Since my goal is to determine the height of all objects of the observed scene, I wiyld like to have your ideas about my project, and if any one could help me with an other easier idea. Thanks so much

I would say, get started and come back once you have actual issues? BTW, OpenCV is not the ideal framework for large point cloud based operations :D
