installation test on unix: illegal instruction cored dumped

Hi,

I am installing OpenCV 2.4.5 on Ubuntu 12.10. After following the installation instructions, I have tried to test the installation by typing ~/opencv-2.4.5/release/bin$ ./opencv_test_core

The result is:

illegal instruction (core dumped)

What do I do now?
