Does anyone know the schedule for the next release after OpenCV 3.1.0? The reason I ask is that I am wondering if it will fix the problem associated with the module flann.knnMatch and the error message:

"error: (-215) The data should normally be NULL! in function allocate."

Since I am not a unix expert, I have been installing using MacPorts. I believe I have seen a workaround on this forum, but it needs a patch to source code to be installed and do not know how to modify the 3.1.0 code that is installed via MacPorts. So I am awaiting a new release of OpenCV and thus from MacPorts.

Sorry, I am a novice here!

Thanks

don't be sorry, it's a total valid question (and a lot of ppl are waiting for the next release with bugfixes)

First, you should check on issues thread that your bug has been already submitted and / or the fix has been already made. The easiest way should be to test the master OpenCV to see if the problem is fixed otherwise you are free to open an issue and submit a fix if you can.

For news about next OpenCV release:

The mentioned bug has been fixed, but maintainers of the macports copy are indeed awaiting the new release. The devs told already in a different topic that 3.2 is to be released in Q4 of 2016. So I guess between now and December!

BTW is there any reason why you cannot build OpenCV yourself from source code?
